Canine Trigger Point Massage Therapy

Restore strength * Gain flexibility * Improve athletic performance

Trigger Point Massage

A trigger point is a sore spot in a skeletal muscle that may result in the muscle not performing properly. They can feel like tiny knots or taught bands. Fun fact: every dog, from Chihuahua to Great Dane, shares the same map of trigger points.

Traditional massage therapy focuses on relaxing the dog, whereas trigger point massage therapy focuses on relaxing individual muscles that are dysfunctional.

Types of dogs that benefit from trigger point massage

Dog Athletes

Enjoys agility, frisbee, dock diving, hiking, swimming, or any high-energy sport. Dogs can go from my table straight into competition.

Dogs in Rehabilitation

Surgery recovery, acute or chronic muscle insult (sprains, strains, and overload), compensatory movement patterns, and post-injury immobilization.

Benefits

Gain flexibility

Limited joint range of motion can be a clue that muscles associated with that joint have trigger points.

Releasing trigger points can allow the dog to more freely, then everything else falls into place.

Restore strength

Trigger points can functionally shorten muscles, resulting in a loss of strength.

Releasing trigger points can restore strength and function to affected muscles.

Improve Athletic Performance

Releasing trigger points can improve range of motion which can restore normal muscle function and improve athletic performance.

What Clients Say

Valentine came into my life 6 years ago as a rescue after being hit by a car. She fractured her right radius/ulna and was splinted for a few weeks. She has always been hesitant towards new people.

Heidi was patient and kind and with a slow approach got her to lie down for her first massage. Valentine was tense at first and slowly relaxed as Heidi worked on her. The next time Valentine saw Heidi she went right up to her and laid down, ready for her massage. My greatest gratitude to Heidi for her patience and knowledge.

“Our cherished Divine Canines therapy dog, Cowboy, faced severe arthritis and compromised mobility. Heidi’s profound patience and dedication to understanding Cowboy’s anatomy helped create a deep bond of trust between them.

The transformation we’ve witnessed in Cowboy since Heidi began trigger point massage therapy with him has been astonishing. He is so playful again! The improvements in Cowboy’s range of motion have been extraordinary.

Her work isn’t just canine trigger point massage therapy; it’s a transformative experience for both pets and their families.”
